County call-ups for Owls students

16 October 2017

Four Sheffield Wednesday College students have joined reigning County champions, South Yorkshire Under-18s, following successful trials with the club.

Luis Fabio Alfonso Ferrera, Sam Morley, Jacob Casterton and Logan Chappel, who are studying BTEC Level Three Diploma in Football Development with the Owls’ Community Programme, were selected to represent the County.

The players made their debut in this season’s opening County fixture on Saturday 7 October, as South Yorkshire won 4-2 against Cumbria at Cantley Park.

It was a dream debut for Chappel who knocked in his first goal for the club in the second half, helping the South Yorkshire boys to a perfect start to the campaign.

Spencer Taylor, CSR manager at SWFCCP, said: “We’re very happy to see the boys representing South Yorkshire, it’s a massive achievement.

“We look forward to seeing them progress, both with South Yorkshire and with their education at the Community Programme.”

South Yorkshire Under-18s play their next match on Saturday 11 November against Northumberland.
