The international break has been kind to the Owls in terms of recovering players and increasing the internal competition in the squad.
Long term absentees George Boyd and Fernando Forestieri aside, Carlos Carvalhal has confirmed that all players are training and fighting for position.
Happy with the preparation work for the weekend clash with Bolton, Carlos said during Friday morning’s pre-match press conference:
“Everything is OK, all players are training and we have no problems, everybody is fit.
“You know about George Boyd and Fernando Forestieri who are progressing but the other players are training and the levels are very good again this week.
“We talked after the game with Leeds and said it will be good in the international break to stop because we can recover players and the internal competition will be more high.
“When the players recover, the competition is high and this is what has happened in these two weeks. We have seen this.
“I am really happy with how my players have trained in these two weeks, especially this week and it has made it more difficult for me to choose the 11 and 18.
“That is a very good signal for Sheffield Wednesday.”
Carlos issued an update on goalkeeper Keiren Westwood, who missed out at Birmingham and then again at home to Leeds with a rib injury.
“He is progressing, he is not training at 100 % but we can say he is very near,” he said.
“Let’s see, we will take a decision tomorrow. We have training today, he trained yesterday so we will analyse.”
