The expectation we created

20 October 2017

“Everybody wants better and better. We have grown up very fast and who created this responsibility? It was us.”

And Carlos Carvalhal says he is more than comfortable shouldering this level of responsibility.

Back-to-back play-off campaigns under Carlos has left a thirst for success at the club and strong desire to go one better this time around.

And Carlos has made it abundantly clear, he harbours those exact same ambitions.

“These are the expectations we created, we jumped to a big level in one season and made everybody excited,” he continued.

“We were in the final of the play-offs, we improved the team, we put a high level about the intensity and quality and when you see this, you don’t want less than this.

“We put a target very high and this is the price of the things that we did in the past.

“The teams that can manage the pressure, that have value and are more stabilised will be in the first positions, this is what we want.

“We think we have the value to do that, we have the capacity to put our team in a very good position.”

Wednesday are aiming to get back on track this weekend and have a tough task ahead at Pride Park.

The Rams ended a five-game run without a win last weekend by defeating rivals Nottingham Forest on home soil.

“We are fighting with very strong teams, it is not an easy competition,” Carlos added.

“This kind of pressure is nothing new to me in football, it’s something we can deal with, we can solve the problems.

“There is a lot of passion and a lot of feelings around our job, we understand that absolutely and we must deal the best way we can and try to correct the mistakes.”
