International boss wishes Westwood well

3 October 2017

Republic of Ireland boss Martin O’Neill has spoken of his disappointment at losing the services of Keiren Westwood for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Moldova and Wales.

The Owls keeper was forced to withdraw from the Republic squad having picked up a rib injury that has also dictated an absence from domestic duty.

O’Neill said: “I am disappointed to lose Keiren as he is an outstanding goalkeeper and a great lad to have in and around the dressing room.

“We wish him the best of luck in his recovery.”

O’Neill’s men face Moldova this Friday, 6 October, on home soil before visiting Wales two days later.
