18s defeated at Crewe

1 October 2017

The Owls Under-18s suffered a second successive defeat on the road on Saturday, going down 4-1 to a strong Crewe side.

The hosts went ahead in the eighth minute after starting on the front foot but despite the early pressure, Wednesday held firm and drew level on 27 minutes.

Liam Shaw notched the equaliser to continue his excellent scoring run at youth level this season.

Right back Josh Dawodu was influential in the build-up, dribbling past three challenges before his shot ricocheted into the path of Shaw to drill home.

But Crewe struck twice before the break to go in to the interval with a strong advantage and despite a spirited reply from Wednesday in the second half, the hosts added a fourth to make sure of the points.

Owls: Brazinskas, Dawodu, West, Brennan, Render, Hunt (Hornsby 71), Shaw, Hughes, Waldock (Gavrilov 46), Lonchar (Swaine 62), Borukov
