Refreshed and ready

12 October 2017

Midfielder David Jones says the international break came at a good time for the Owls.

Prior to the break, Wednesday responded to successive defeats by producing an outstanding display and victory over Yorkshire rivals Leeds.

Refreshed and ready to go again, the Owls head to Bolton on Saturday looking to pick up where they left off, as Jones explained:

“I think the break came at a good time, it was a good period to reflect on recent games.

“There have been some high pressure games in the last couple of weeks so it’s been nice to get that mental break and come back refreshed.

“We are ready to get back out there.

“There is a balance between the physical training and the mental rest that you need.

“The body goes where the mind tells it to go so if you’re refreshed and ready to go, that is as important as the physical training.

“There has been a lot of pressure, a lot of build-up but with the squad we’ve got at Wednesday, we know we’ve got the capabilities to cope with that and I think we have responded really well.”

Jones, who has made 11 appearances for the Owls this season in all competitions, is now looking forward to the period, starting with Saturday’s trip to The Macron Stadium.

“This week in training, everyone has been up for it, it’s been very energetic, we are refreshed and ready to go,” he added.

“If you look at the month before the next international break, we feel we have a big opportunity to get some results and see an improvement in our league position.”
