Setting the pace

6 October 2017

Sheffield Wednesday Fit Club member Roger Pace completed the Sheffield 10k on Sunday 24 September in just 55 minutes.

Roger, 68, is a long-term member of the Owls’ Fit Club, having joined in February 2016 with his wife Ann.

His fitness progression meant he was able to complete the Sheffield Run For All 10k just 20 minutes behind the overall winner and finish eighth in his category.

Along with the practical element of the course, Roger believes the healthy eating information has made a tremendous difference to his fitness level and stamina, he said: “I’m very impressed with the health discussions about food.

“I can now look at the label on the back and know exactly what it all means.

“I have previous experience running a 10k marathon but I never thought I would be participating in another one 30 years later!”

SWFC Fit Club coach Callum Pinhorn said: “I’m extremely proud that Roger has progressed from his initial fitness into an athletic type development.

“He has become a real role model for his fellow members.”

If you are inspired by Roger’s achievement and want to get healthier and fitter, you can join the next 10-week Fit Club programme starting Thursday 12 October.
