We know what we must do

13 October 2017

Bolton may have endured a tough introduction back into Championship football but Carlos Carvalhal says his side must be at full alert this weekend.

The hosts are still awaiting their first win of the campaign and head into the weekend fixture on the back of eight straight defeats.

Phil Parkinson’s side are adrift at the bottom of the table but Carlos has warned the game will be far from straight forward, as he explained:

“We know they will play for their lives, they will use all the arguments that they have and we will use ours.

“We can’t think that we will go there and it will be an easy game. No. My players know exactly what they must do in the game.

“We must play our football, be with attention to the strong points of the opponent and try to discover the weak points.

“We must fight and run a lot and after let’s see. I remember last season, we won in Newcastle and played amazing.

“Days before we played against Rotherham at Hillsborough and we win 1-0, a penalty in the 94th minute in a very tough match to us.

“There are never easy games. We never know if playing Newcastle away will be more easy in theory or practise than against Rotherham at home.

“You never know in this competition, but you must be ready to fight to the points to be in a better position.”
