In what has, without question, been a difficult period for the Owls and Carlos Carvalhal, the head coach says he has taken immense encouragement for the future.
In the testing moments, the true characters and leaders rise to the fore and this is what Carlos feels happened last weekend at Derby.
In the face of adversity, and when all signs pointed to an uphill struggle, Wednesday rose to the challenge and battled with ten men to the end and the head coach said:
“One bad period can happen but the bad period is the best period to check, where we are living and which people you have around you.
“When you are in good moments, and you are winning and people are smiling and talking about good things, you don’t see the full personalities when everything is ok.
“I will know who you really are when one of us has a problem.
“I will know what kind of player you are, what kind of fan you are and what kind of coach I am also.
“And what I like in this period is that my players give steps in front, they don’t hide.
“If you give a step in front and show your face, show your abilities and personality you will be better.
“My players have done this which is why I appreciated our fans after the game at Derby applauding what they saw and I appreciated a lot the reaction of my players.
“I also appreciate the attitude of the chairman because we are seeing really who is a leader.
“They are the people who show their face and never hide.”
