Goals change games

12 September 2017

Wednesday winger Ross Wallace was pleased the Owls managed to extend their unbeaten run to six games with a 2-1 win over Brentford at Hillsborough on Tuesday evening.

The Bees went in front through Nico Yennaris, but goals from Gary Hooper and Ross Wallace sealed all three points for Wednesday.

Wallace said: “We’re on a really decent run, we’re stringing some good results together and it was a tough one tonight especially after we put a lot into Saturday.

“Fair play to them, they’re a decent side, they passed the ball well.

“We struggled to get to grips with the first half so we just thought to get in at half time and change our shape get a bit more on the front foot

“Goals change games and that’s what we’ve got in our team, goalscorers.

“We’ve got people who can score a goal and as long as we’ve got that we’re always in with the chance of getting the points.”

The Scotsman opened his account for the season with the winner and was glad to be off the mark in front of the home crowd.

He added: “Jordan Rhodes managed to get a head on it and knock it across goal and I was in the right place at the right time to get my big toe on it!

“It’s important to get good home form and we’re starting to pick up results.

“We’ve got a big game coming up on Saturday against Cardiff and if we get a result there, then it’ll put us in good stead for the derby.”
