Hard work saw us through

25 August 2018

Hard work won the day, said Jos Luhukay after the Owls beat Ipswich 2-1 at Hillsborough on Saturday.

Wednesday were not at their best but their graft and guile saw them over the line against the ten-man Tractor Boys.

Luhukay said: “We showed the passion side of our game today and the work ethic that I think helped us win the game.

“We did not play that well with the ball but when you have the effort we did, that is a good compensation.

“It is ideal to play win and work hard but when the games come so quickly this is not always possible.

“So I am very happy with the result and two home wins in just a few days.

“Last year we lost this similar kind of game against Ipswich and today we won the points.”

Luhukay was full of praise for Lucas Joao, whose brace sealed the win for Wednesday:

“Lucas showed his qualities, he can make a big difference in games. He has a lot of ability that can be very important in turning games.

“This is why we are pleased Lucas has extended his contract and we are very happy to have him here.

“Now he has to continue to grow as a player and develop because he has so much potential.”
