18s extend unbeaten start

27 August 2018

The Owls Under-18s extended their unbeaten start to the season with a 2-0 victory over Bristol City on Saturday at Middlewood Road.

Wednesday had to weather an early storm which saw the visitors have a golden chance to take the lead from the penalty spot, but Josh Render made an excellent save to tip around the post.

The breakthrough came after 20 minutes when Charlie Reaney’s long punt forward sent Charles Hagan on his way and the striker applied a cool finish to give Wednesday the lead.

And the Owls made a dream start to the second period with Hagan on target again seconds after the restart.

Isaac Rice played into the path of the onrushing Hagan down the left, who proved too strong for his marker before advancing into the area and rifling home at the near post.

Next-up for the Owls academy is a trip to Crystal Palace on Saturday (10.45am).

Owls: Render, Dawodu, Ellery, Kenyon, Reaney, Rice, Brandy (Aguas 62), Thompson, Hagan, Glover (Oliver 89), O’Brien
