Manager Jos Luhukay says he is ready to lead his team into the 2018/19 campaign.
The big kick-off at Wigan is just two days away and Luhukay feels the Owls are well prepared for the curtain-raiser at The DW Stadium.
During the first pre-match press conference of the season on Thursday lunchtime, the Wednesday boss said:
“My focus is to work every day with my players, with this team and in two days we start our season.
“We have worked intensively over the last six weeks with each other, we come in a good shape, good form and on Saturday we must give the answers from this hard work.
“We have a good squad, with good balance and we feel positive about starting the season with this team.”
The Owls will be backed by a sold out following of over 4,500 this weekend and the manager added:
“It is very important that we try to play very good football and do everything we can to come to very good results.
“On Saturday, over 4,500 of our fans go to Wigan and that shows a lot of respect for us and we must do the same back.
“We must play for our fans, play for ourselves and do things better than last season.
“This squad has a lot of quality, I am sure of that.”
