The Owls Under-18s posted another strong pre-season performance and victory on Wednesday afternoon at Sunderland.
Iyad Hamud’s first half header saw the Wednesday youngsters on the way to a deserved victory in the North East against their Category One opposition.
Steven Haslam told swfc.co.uk: “We played really well. It was another positive performance against a tough Category One side, it was a good test and they all came through it with a lot of credit.
“On the back of our hard-fought win at Scunthorpe, we looked at one or two things in the short time we had between the games.
“You could see the work we have been doing on the training pitch on our team shape and we were pleased with many different aspects.
“We could have scored more goals but we came away with a good feeling about the game.”
Looking ahead to the new season, Haslam added: “As is always the case at this stage, we want to look ahead and see the players develop and mature as footballers for the future.
“There were a lot of individuals who shined in the friendly at Sunderland, so yes, we’re looking forward to the season and to seeing the boys continue to progress.”
