An Elliott Vasalo brace and Conor Grant penalty saw Wednesday defeat league strugglers Hull on Saturday morning.
It was top v bottom in the Under-18 Professional Development League clash at Middlewood Road and it took Andy Holdsworth’s side just eight minutes to break the deadlock.
Grant made a driving run into the box and was brought down for a clear penalty, with little complaints from the Tigers.
Cool as you like from the spot, Grant stepped up and calmly converted to put Wednesday ahead.
Two minutes before the break, the Owls doubled their advantage with an impressive low finish from Vasalo following good work from Eyad Hammoud.
And the game was put to bed on 68 minutes when Vasalo squeezed the ball underneath the Tigers goalkeeper from Charlie Reaney’s ball into the box.
Rob Guilfoyle bagged a late consolation for the visitors with a superb glancing header into the top corner but it was too little, too late for the Tigers as Wednesday ran out comfortable winners.
The Owls Under-18s are back on the road next weekend travelling to Leeds (11.00am) on Saturday, who remain the only side to inflict defeat on the Wednesday youngsters this season.
Owls: Render, Dawodu, Ellery (Oliver 58), Kenyon, Reaney, Rice, Brandy (Hagan 73), Farmer, Hammoud, Grant, Vasalo
