A motivation for the players

16 February 2018

A tough clash with Swansea awaits in the fifth round of the FA Cup and Owls manager Jos Luhukay says it is an important game and test for his side.

With Premier League opposition coming to Hillsborough and a place in the quarter finals at stake, the Wednesday boss has strong ambitions to go as far as possible in the competition.

While the Dutchman expects a difficult afternoon against the in-form Swans, under the guidance of former Owls head coach Carlos Carvalhal, Luhukay is keen to keep alive hopes of FA Cup glory this season, saying:

“For us it is a very important game tomorrow, you know that when you win a game you get closer to the final and that is very good motivation for the players.

“From Tuesday, the team and the players had more confidence and maybe also more trust in themselves.

“It is a good step for us to play a Premier League club tomorrow and fight to come into the next round.

“With the cups, when you come to a final, it is a dream for the players and the fans. They are highlight days in football for everyone at the clubs.

“But first, we must tomorrow make the next step against Swansea, it will be very difficult and very hard to come further.

“But our players will have a lot of passion to come to the next round.”
