Defensive duo back in contention

12 February 2018

Wednesday will be able to welcome back defensive duo Daniel Pudil and Glenn Loovens for tomorrow’s clash with Derby.

Pudil missed the trip to Barnsley through suspension, while Loovens was sidelined through illness.

Manager Jos Luhukay is pleased to have the experienced defenders back in contention, saying:

“The positive for us is that Daniel Pudil is back in the squad tomorrow and Glenn Loovens is 100% better.

“He is also back in the squad tomorrow, so that is two options more to think about.”

Elsewhere, David Jones – who suffered a head injury late in the 1-1 draw with Barnsley – will be fit for selection and so too will full back Jack Hunt.

“David Jones is good and can also play tomorrow so he is also an option. Jack Hunt can be in the team and there is no problem with him," he added.

Looking ahead to the coming weeks, Jos continued: “Almen Abdi is on the good way in a good direction.

“He has been training now one and a half weeks with the team but he needs a little longer to come to a better physical situation.

“We will wait a couple of weeks and hope to have Gary Hooper back for the team training.

“Sam Hutchinson is also on a good way but he must be a little patient to come back to the team training, he is training now individual and we must give him time.

“Keiren Westwood last week visited a doctor in London and they will decide this week if maybe he will come to need an operation. We must have patience with Keiren.”
