Well into his second week at Hillsborough and two games played, Jos Luhukay has seen plenty of encouraging signs at the club.
Particularly pleasing points for the Owls manager has been the players’ mentality and character in difficult circumstances.
He told swfc.co.uk: “We have had some days to work with each other, I have two games and see all the players available now who gave a performance in both games.
“That was good for mentality and character from the players. It gives me a good feeling for the game on Saturday against Cardiff.
“The players who I have now, they have not a lot of games played most of them.
“So they must come with a good feeling and the best form they can.
“I must try now with these players to bring the quality of a high level from them.”
A number of youngsters from the Owls' youth system have stepped up admirably in the past days, both in training and the last outings in the Championship and FA Cup.
Luhukay continued: “The chances for the young players in the team is very high, the last days training always has five, six, seven or eight players from Under-23s with us.
“They have a chance. Last Tuesday, the two central defenders were with us in the team and did a good job and last Friday there were two players in the squad and one of them came into the game.
“Maybe we have for Saturday young players in the team, we will see.”
