Stalemate for Under-18s

17 March 2018

The Owls’ Under-18s came away from Bristol City with a creditable 0-0 draw in terrible West Country weather conditions on Saturday.

A heavy pitch did not lend itself to conducive football but on the balance of play, it was Wednesday that arguably deserved to take victory.

After Joe Walker made a fine early save to keep City at bay, the Owls began to dominate and Conor Grant went close midway through the first half.

Following a second half of superiority, Owls substitute L’Varn Brandy almost sealed the points four minutes from time but just fell short of getting sufficient purchase on his shot from ten yards.

One bright spot of a low key afternoon was a Wednesday debut for Michael Ellery, who excelled for the visitors in Bristol.

Wednesday: Walker, Hughes, Ellery, Gavrilov, Reaney, Brennan, Lonchar (Swaine 63), Waldock (Reaney 55), Hammoud (Brandy 86)
