Sheffield Wednesday were delighted to welcome the BT Sport Pub Cup to Hillsborough on Thursday!
The free to enter tournament began this week with regional qualifying heats taking place around the UK at The Hawthorns, Easter Road, Goodison Park, The Den, Loftus Road, Vitality Stadium and Hillsborough.
In total, 48 were teams chosen to take part after registration, beginning with a seven-a-side format in the heats across the venue stadiums.
The heat winners then progress to the semi finals at St George’s Park, where they go head to head in an 11-a-side battle on Sunday 20 May!
The final will take place at Leicester City’s King Power Stadium on Saturday 2 June, with the two finalist teams managed by BT Sport pundits Robbie Savage and John Hartson.
The team crowned champions will win a free BT Sport subscription for a year and £5,000 worth of equipment for their pub.
From the Hillsborough heat, the qualifying pub teams through to the semis at Burton on Sunday were The Dolphin Inn FC and Woodley Arms FC – good luck for the next stage, lads!
