Dan Wallis extends Wednesday stay

11 May 2018

Owls Under-23s goalkeeper Dan Wallis has extended his stay with Wednesday until the summer of 2019.

Wallis joined Wednesday as a scholar in 2015 before progressing through the ranks with the Under-18s and Under-23s.

This season, the young shot stopper was a key part of the Owls’ Under-23s who finished third in the Professional Development League 2.

Speaking exclusively to swfc.co.uk, Wallis said: “I’m really happy to sign my deal, this year has been good for me.

“I’ve obviously got more experience with the 23s, sadly we just missed out on winning the league but it’s been a great experience for me and I’m really happy to be staying at the club.”

After seeing academy graduates Joe Wildsmith and Cameron Dawson make big impressions between the sticks this year, Wallis hopes to be the next goalie to challenge for a first team place.

He added: “Cam and Joe have done really well this season. That’s something that really helps me push on and hopefully next season I can show that I can be involved.

“I really want to push Joe, Cam and Keiren for a place in the first team if I can.

“The break is coming now, it’s been a long, hard season for all of us, so I’m going to relax and come back refreshed and stronger for next season.”
