It’s been another season of huge progress for our Under-18s and Under-23s.
With players making the grade and signing first professional contracts and others making full first team debuts, it will be a campaign to remember for many youngsters at the club.
And over the past week, players of all age groups from the Owls academy gained valuable experience of playing at Hillsborough.
Kicking off last Tuesday evening, the Owls Under-15s and 16s faced their counterparts from Barnsley.
Then on Thursday, it was the Under-13s’ opportunity to impress on the big stage, also with a clash against the Reds.
The Under-8s, 9s, 10s and 11s played a series of mini games on pitch on Saturday morning before the Owls Under-12s and 14s faced their opposite numbers from Rotherham on Sunday.
Academy manager Steven Haslam said: “Opportunities like these give the young lads such a boost and feeling of excitement.
“To step out at Hillsborough and have a go on the pitch is a fantastic experience for the boys because in the future, of course it’s where they all want to be.
“We’ve seen this season what it’s meant to those who have stepped up to the first team this year.
“There is a pathway to the first team at Sheffield Wednesday and giving the young lads a taste of Hillsborough will no doubt whet their appetite for the future.”
