Under-18s too strong for Blues

11 November 2018

The Owls Under-18s went five points clear at the top of the table with a 3-0 win away at Birmingham on Saturday.

Eyad Hammoud notched his 11th goal of the season to break the deadlock and Conor Grant scored twice as Wednesday proved too strong for the Blues.

The visitors went ahead 16 minutes into the game when Michael Ellery slid the ball down the line for Jordan O’Brien, who cut the ball back for Hammoud to finish on the edge of the six yard box.

With Birmingham seeing plenty of the ball, Wednesday were disciplined out of possession and stuck to the gameplan to frustrate the hosts.

And Wednesday doubled the advantage just before the hour courtesy of a superbly struck free kick from Grant and the third came in impressive fashion 18 minutes from time.

After a 13-pass move, Josh Dawodu motored forward through the middle and played an inch-perfect through ball for Grant to slot home his second of the game.

Wednesday are back in action on 24 November at home to Sheffield United (11.00am).

Owls: Render, Dawodu (Reaney 81), Ellery, Waldock (Kenyon 89), Thompson, Rice, Hagan, Farmer, Hammoud, Grant, O’Brien (Oliver 90)
