Reach wins PFA award for September

10 October 2018

Owls midfielder Adam Reach has been voted the PFA Fans’ Championship Player of the Month for September.

Reach was one of six nominees up for the award and has won with 36% of the vote.

The former Middlesbrough man is recognised for his fine form in September, which saw him grab two goals and two assists in the Owls’ five matches.

The month started with a 2-1 win against Reading, in which Reach scored a well-placed finish into the bottom corner of the net from outside the Royals box.

Then, in the same game, the midfielder laid the ball perfectly in front of Lucas Joao, who struck firmly past Reading goalkeeper Vito Mannone to seal the points for Wednesday.

Wednesday’s trip to Aston Villa also ended in a 2-1 victory for the Owls, and Reach got his second assist of the month by teeing up Marco Matias on the edge of the box for the Portuguese to strike home and break the deadlock.

And last, but by no means least, the tireless midfielder bagged a Goal of the Season contender against Yorkshire rivals Leeds at Hillsborough.

Reach’s thunderous half volley from distance put the Owls in front against the Whites, with the game ending in a 1-1 draw.

Congratulations, Adam!
