Owls romp to Palace win

3 September 2018

The Owls’ Under-18s romped to a superb success at Crystal Palace on Saturday, emerging 5-0 winners from the capital.

Wednesday were clinical up front and resilient at the back, with goalkeeper Josh Render making a string of fine saves to keep the clean sheet intact.

At the other end, the Owls were ruthless, with Jordan O’Brien claiming a treble for the visitors.

Wednesday were in front on four minutes through an O’Brien free kick that crept in at the far post.

Charles Hagan doubled the lead on 29 minutes, dribbling into the box and curling into the top corner.

It was 3-0 on 39 minutes as the Owls all but put the game out of the Eagles’ reach. O’Brien played a neat give and go with Josh Dawodu and the former struck home.

If that were not enough, a fourth goal arrived six minutes before half time when Dawodu fed Iyad Hammoud, who guided into the back of the net from 12 yards.

O’Brien completed his hat-trick and the scoring on the hour, coolly turning his marker before drilling home.

Wednesday: Render, Dawodu (Thompson 67), Ellery, Waldock (Kenyon 86), Reaney, Rice, Hagan, Shaw, Hammoud, Grant, O’Brien (Brandy 81)
