Academy manager Steven Haslam and young midfielder Liam Shaw took the positives from the Under 23s' performance and victory over Greek side Olympiacos on Wednesday.
The Owls ran out 4-2 winners, posting an impressive display that drew satisfaction from quarters on and off the pitch.
Haslam told swfc.co.uk: ‘We played some cracking stuff in a system that is slightly different to our usual one and caused the opposition problems. 
“On another day we could have scored several more goals.
‘We weren’t sure what to expect in terms of the conditions but the lads came through unscathed and a lot of them got the 90 minutes they needed so it was a positive exercise.”
Shaw added: “I thought it was a good experience testing ourselves against a foreign opponent. 
“It was very slippy with the rainy conditions but we moved the ball around well and took our chances.
“Conceding the two goals wasn’t ideal but they were a good, aggressive team and thought we met the challenge and got the job done.”
