Striving for consistency

23 August 2019

Consistency is key to a successful season at any level and Lee Bullen is hopeful of the Owls’ current run continuing for the long term.

The bar has been set high with three wins from four and Bullen is delighted by the standards and workrate of the boys so far.

In terms of team selection, the caretaker manager says it is tough to make changes to a winning side and that consistency in picking the team is an important factor, as he explained:

“Really we’ve only made changes so far out of necessity, the goalkeeper had to be changed, Baz was injured, Palmer was injured and had to be changed.

“We are trying to get a bit of consistency but don’t get me wrong, the odd one or two changes here or there will be fine.

“We want to get that consistency and to be honest, the lads who have been getting results deserve to keep the jersey but there have been one or two who have come in and out that have played a positive part too.

“If you are getting really disappointing performances or results it makes your decision making a lot easier to leave people out.

“But the lads that have been playing are making it relatively straight forward because they are playing well and getting results so they deserve to keep the shirt.

“We are in a good place.”
