We can work it out

20 August 2019

With three very different victories under the belt in the early throes of the new season, Lee Bullen says the Owls’ work ethic has shined bright throughout.

No matter the style required, Wednesday have dug deep to top the table and the caretaker manager hailed his troops following the hard-fought 1-0 win over Luton on Tuesday night.

“We dug deep tonight, we did what we had to do and came out with three very, very big points.

“Make no mistake, Luton are a good side with a very talented manager and they were never going to come here and roll over.

“But we have shown another side to our game tonight, how you have to work hard and do whatever is necessary to win a game of football.”

The Owls returned to the Championship summit with the Hatters triumph but Bullen says the whole camp have their collective feet planted firmly on the floor:

“We are under no illusions, we don’t get too high when we win and we don’t get too low when we lose.

“Of course it’s nice to be on top of the table but it’s early days and you will not see anyone getting carried away.

“We are very fortunate to have the group of players that we do, they are pushing each other day in, day out, which is a fantastic positive for the football club.”
