Garry Monk says the sole focus of players is winning three points on Saturday at Hillsborough.
Wednesday host in-form Brentford at Hillsborough this weekend and the message from Monk was to control the controllables - one of which is the level of performance over the coming weeks.
He said during his pre-match press conference: “I said it before, our job is to be focused on what we are doing here and that’s the football. That’s what we can control.
“We focus on the football and the trainings every day and nothing can directly affect that.
“As I said at the beginning, there will be many things that come out media-wise that will be discussed along the way but we have to focus on what we’re doing.
“When it comes down to the bones of it we will only be focused on our jobs. We are in control of what our ambition is and that is to fight for as many points as we can.
“That’s what we will be doing.”
Having returned to winning ways last weekend at Charlton, the Owls will be looking to extend their good run at Hillsborough under Monk, who has yet to taste defeat on home soil as Wednesday boss.
He continued: “We are focused on this game on Saturday and trying to get three points from it.
“There is always some kind of adversity, it comes in many different forms. But what you try to do with adversity is use it as fuel for determination.
“It’s what we are trying to do here. The atmosphere and environment hasn’t changed.”
