Match preview: Owls v Bristol City

20 December 2019

Sheffield Wednesday return to Hillsborough on Sunday (12.00pm) for the final game before Christmas.

Bristol City are the visitors this weekend, who are outside the top six only on goal difference but looking to respond after suffering back to back defeats.

Those two losses both came on home soil against Millwall (1-2) and Blackburn (0-2).

The Robins haven't lost three in a row since November 2018.

Wednesday, meanwhile, will be aiming to build on last weekend’s superb performance away at Nottingham Forest.

The 4-0 win at the City Ground earned Wednesday the LMA Performance of the Week award and was the Owls’ third win in four games.

Garry Monk’s side are unbeaten in five games.

Team news

SWFC: Sam Hutchinson remains suspended and will serve the final game of his two-match ban on Sunday.

Fernando Forestieri (knee) remains sidelined.

Kieran Lee missed the trip to Forest following the birth of his newborn son but is back in training and available.

Moses Odubajo is back from suspension.

Owls top scorer Steven Fletcher has scored 12 times in 21 league games and is just one goal away from his highest scoring campaign in a single English league football season.

Elsewhere the Owls have no fresh injury concerns.

Bristol City: Lee Johnson is set to welcome back defender Taylor Moore, who missed the last two games with a knee problem.

Fellow defender Tomas Kalas (tendonitis) may also be back in contention, and Jay Dasilva (shin) has returned to training.
