A great experience

21 February 2019

Owls Under-23s midfielder Conor Grant was delighted to get on the scoresheet for Wednesday on Tuesday night as Neil Thompson’s side beat Sheffield United 2-0 at Bramall Lane.

The Irishman provided an assist for Newcastle loanee Rolando Aarons before getting on the scoresheet himself in an impressive display from the 17-year-old.

Grant said: “It was a good team performance and I felt we deserved the win.

“I’m delighted to have got the goal, especially with it being against Sheffield United, but for me the most important thing was to win the game.

“I couldn’t believe it when the ball came to me like it did, and I was very happy that I took the chance.”

There were a number of first team players on display for both the Owls and the Blades’ development sides, and Grant enjoyed the experience.

He added: “It’s always good to test yourself against first team players, and I think I did well.

“It’s a great experience to play alongside some of the first team, you can learn a lot from them when they speak with you.

“When I’ve played for the Under-23s I can tell the game is quicker, but I feel like I’ve done well.”
