Match preview: Owls v Brentford

26 February 2019

Unbeaten in six heading into tonight’s fixture at Hillsborough, Sheffield Wednesday will be out to build on the victory over Swansea at the weekend.

Adam Reach bagged his first goals of 2019 and along with a superb overhead kick from Steven Fletcher, Wednesday posted their first home win (3-1) under Steve Bruce against the Swans.

The Owls have lost just one of their previous 11 Championship games, keeping clean sheets in six of those fixtures.

Brentford are one place and one point below Wednesday in the table, though head to Hillsborough in outstanding form with five wins from their previous six league outings.

The Bees extended their run at the weekend by brushing aside Hull at Griffin Park by a 5-1 scoreline, but prior to that, were comfortably beaten 4-1 by Swansea in the FA Cup.

Here is swfc.co.uk’s match preview:

Team news

Owls: Fernando Forestieri is available for selection after completing his one-match suspension.

Defenders Morgan Fox (back) and Jordan Thorniley (concussion) could come back into contention after missing out against Swansea.

Illness in the camp saw George Boyd out of the squad on Saturday and the winger could return this evening.

Though the Owls boss was impressed by Newcastle loanees Rolando Aarons and Achraf Lazaar, who made their full debuts in the win over Swansea and the duo could retain their place.

Brentford: Striker Marcus Forss (back) is unlikely to figure while goalkeeper Luke Daniels (calf) is also an injury concern.
