Match preview: Owls v Reading

8 February 2019

Sheffield Wednesday manager Steve Bruce will take charge of his first home fixture on Saturday as the Owls host Reading.

Wednesday will be out to make it three league wins on the bounce after back to back 1-0 victories over Wigan and Ipswich.

Reading, meanwhile, head into the game in the Championship relegation zone, one point from safety.

The Royals have picked up five points from their last four outings, though have won just once in their previous 14 games.

Here is swfc.co.uk’s match preview:

Team news

Owls: Josh Onomah is ruled out of Saturday’s clash at Hillsborough.

The Spurs loanee suffered a hamstring strain late in Wednesday’s 1-0 win over Ipswich last week.

New signings Dominic Iorfa, Rolando Aarons and Achraf Lazaar will be in the squad.

Reading: Striker Nelson Oliveira will miss out following the facial injuries he suffered in last week’s draw with Aston Villa.

Following a bout of sickness at the club Garath McCleary and Ovie Ejaria are both doubts but manager Jose Gomes is hopeful the pair will be over their illness in time to feature.
