Back up and running

2 July 2019

Barry Bannan is pleased to be in the swing of pre-season after the summer break.

The midfield man faced a different summer to his team mates as instead of jetting off on holiday, he patiently awaited the arrival of his baby daughter.

And whilst naturally missing his new arrival, Bannan is looking forward to getting back into a footballing routine as the Owls begin pre-season across Europe in Portugal.

Bannan said: “I can’t wait to be honest. I tried to keep myself in good shape over the summer as I have had no holiday because of waiting for the baby to arrive.

"I have worked hard, kept myself in shape and now I am looking forward to the hard work starting.

“We’ve got a great base over here, the boys are in good spirits and it’s great to be back up and running.”

Once Wednesday return to home soil, there will be just over three weeks until the new Championship campaign gets underway.

Assessing the August fixtures, the Scot said: "Every fixture is tough in the Championship - it does not matter who you are playing against.

"We will get ourselves going in the next four or five weeks and get ourselves in top condition so we are 100% ready going into the season.

"We have got to hit the ground running and get off to a good start."
