Joey Pelupessy believes the pre-season trip to Portugal will be significant in bringing the squad even closer together ahead of the new Championship season.
The SWFC contingent are three days into their intensive 10-day warm weather training camp on the Algarve and Pelupessy insists the trip will be beneficial not only for fitness levels on the pitch but team bonding off it.
“It is really, really important to spend a lot of time with your team mates,” said the Dutchman.
“I believe that this is one of the most important things if you are playing in a team because you need each other, you need to trust each other and in 10 days you can come very close to each other.
“Of course, we know each other but it is good to be back together and working.”
This pre-season is the first under Steve Bruce and Pelupessy is finding the drills as demanding as was expected after the Wednesday manager vowed to elevate fitness across the board.
He continued: “I think it is going to be a tough pre-season, really tough.
“The manager has not told us to come back fit for nothing, so that means something.
“But I think that is only a good thing because if you are fit, sharp and ready then you can show yourself and get results.”
