The Owls Under-18s have begun their pre-season tour of Holland with a strong challenge against a talented Vitesse Arnhem Under-19 side.
The Wednesday youngsters landed in Amsterdam early evening on Tuesday and were straight to business this morning with a friendly match versus Vitesse.
Although on the wrong end of a 2-1 scoreline, the Owls academy produced a good performance and gave an excellent account of themselves throughout the 90 minutes.
Wednesday fell behind in the 14th minute with an expertly placed free kick hitting the back of the net to break the deadlock.
But an impressive spell of possession play and decisive passing and movement off the ball saw the visitors create an opening and draw level on 29 minutes.
Luke Yates slipped through for the on-rushing Alex Bonnington, who prodded the ball across the face of goal for Luke Hall to tap in from close range.
The winning goal came ten minutes from time as Vitesse won back possession before swiftly countering and firing home the winner.
