Raise a glass for Keira

7 June 2019

Fundraiser Tim Nash is cycling from Hillsborough to Castle Hedingham next month to raise funds the charity St Helena.

The charity, which helps people face incurable illness, supported lifelong Wednesdayite Keira Dixon, who passed away in November last year.

In 2014, following a regular eye examination, a tumour was discovered on Keira’s brain, which she fought bravely against for four years.

Tim knew Keira through their local pub in Essex, the Bell Inn, working together at the summer festival held there each July.

He wanted to purchase a bottle of ‘The Wednesday’, the Owls’ official beer created in partnership with Thornbridge Brewery, to give to Keira with the 21-year-old being a huge fan of the club.

Sadly, Keira never got the chance to try ‘The Wednesday’, so Tim is embarking on a 190-mile bike ride to pay tribute to her.

And on Saturday 13 July, Tim will pick up a bottle of beer from Hillsborough and cycle to the Bell Inn in time for the start of the festival five days later, with help from Keira’s friends and family along the way.

If you would like to make a donation to St Helena, in recognition of the remarkable work carried out by the hospice movement, please CLICK HERE.

But above all, please wish Tim and his cycling party all the very best on their journey and, at around 6.00pm on 17 July, join them in raising a glass to Keira.
