Sheffield Wednesday chairman Dejphon Chansiri has issued a vote of thanks to the fans who paid their respects to the new king of Thailand ahead of Sunday’s season finale against QPR.

The coronation of King Maha Vajiralongkorn is taking place in Thailand, which was marked at Hillsborough by generous Wednesdayites.

The royal anthem of Thailand ‘Sansoen Phra Barami’ and ‘Sadudee Jom Racha’ specifically composed for the new king, were played during the ceremony while supporters paid their respects.

Mr Chansiri said: “I wish to thank every supporter inside the stadium before the kick-off who showed so much respect for the coronation of King Maha Vajiralongkorn.

“Once more, this showed me the heart and spirit of Sheffield Wednesday fans.

“The official coronation is taking place in Bangkok but to see this special occasion celebrated in my second home of Sheffield means so much to myself, my family and the people of Thailand.

“Thank you, from my heart.”
