Garry Monk confirmed during his pre-match press conference on Tuesday that Cameron Dawson will start against Birmingham at Hillsborough.
The 24-year-old has made six appearances for the Owls this season and most recently back in October in the 1-0 win over Stoke.
“Cameron is going to be playing on Wednesday,” Monk told the media at Middlewood Road.
“Keiren has got a little bit of an injury as well but it would have been a decision I would have had to make anyway, so Cameron will play on Wednesday.
“I’ve got no problems with that, look what he did against Cardiff at very short notice.
“He was fantastic in the two games he came in and I’m sure he will continue on Wednesday how he left off.”
He continued: “It’s a slight shoulder injury for Keiren, there was a decision to be made anyway but I believe in all of them and this is Cameron’s opportunity - it’s for him to take it.
“I don’t think Keiren will be out for too long, it’s not a serious injury but this is a decision I would have made anyway with Cameron. Keiren will come back and then it’s more decisions for me to make.”
