Owls frustrated at Forest

13 October 2019

The Owls Under-18s slipped to back to back defeats on Saturday away at Nottingham Forest.

In a close-fought game that could have gone either way, it was an Elliott Andrew penalty that settled the academy clash midway through the second half.

For all Wednesday’s positive play and reaction to last weekend’s derby defeat, it was the youngsters’ end product that was lacking on the day.

Save long range efforts from Paulo Aguas and Lewis Farmer, the Forest keeper was rarely troubled and it was from the spot where the points were won for the hosts.

Esapa Osong weaved his way into the box and went down under pressure from Sam Oliver and Jay Glover to win the penalty.

Andrew drilled the spot kick straight down the middle to earn his side maximum points.

To compound matters, the Owls were reduced to ten men late in the game when substitute Elliott Vasalo picked up a second yellow card.

Next-up for the Owls is Yorkshire rivals Leeds at Middlewood Road on Saturday (11.00am).

Supporters are welcome to attend the game which is free admission.

Owls: Jackson, Farmer, Oliver (Yates 84), Kenyon, Thompson, Cox, Hagan, Glover (Vasalo 76, s/o 90), Bonnington (Brandy 65), Hall, Aguas
