18s turn on the style at Coventry

14 September 2019

Wednesday’s Under-18s eased to a 4-0 victory away at Coventry on Saturday morning.

After back to back draws in the league with Bristol City and Charlton, it was a welcome return to winning ways for the young Owls side.

In-form striker Alex Bonnington punished the hosts for a defensive mix-up which saw the youngster go through on goal and drill high into the net on 34 minutes.

That was the only goal of the first period, though the signs were there that Andy Holdsworth’s side had more gears to climb into and so it proved straight from kick-off in the second half.

Just second after getting the half underway, Charles Hagan made it 2-0 to the visitors after pouncing on more uncertain defending from the Sky Blues.

And the game was all but put to bed on 57 minutes when Hagan doubled his tally from close range, converting from Lewis Farmer’s ball into the box.

The goal of the game then arrived 20 minutes from time from full back Farmer.

The youngster took the ball in his stride from Bonnington’s pass before cutting inside his marker and drilling an unstoppable strike right into the top corner.

Owls: Jackson, Farmer (Cox 90), Oliver, Kenyon, Thompson, Ellery, Glover, Brandy (Hall 80), Vasalo (Aguas 63), Hagan, Bonnington
