U18s report: Bristol City 2-2 Owls

1 September 2019

The Owls Under-18s recovered from a slow start against Bristol City to return from the south west with a point in the 2-2 draw on Saturday.

Wednesday conceded twice inside the first 18 minutes and faced an uphill battle.

But Andy Holdsworth’s side managed to work their way into the game and Alex Bonnington’s goal on the half hour went some way to shifting the balance.

Charles Hagan played into Bonnington’s feet from the right, the striker took a touch and his low strike then squeezed past the Robins goalkeeper and into the net.

If there was a question mark over the City goalkeeper for the Owls’ first goal, there was little that could be done to keep out the second.

Again it was Hagan the provider after another powerful burst down the right and the striker’s centre was expertly fired home by L’Varn Brandy, who picked out the bottom corner with a first-time finish.

Wednesday host Charlton at Middlewood Road on Saturday, 1.00pm kick-off.

Owls: Hare, Farmer, Oliver, Kenyon, Thompson, Ellery, Hagan, Glover, Bonnington, Brandy (Trueman 85), Aguas (Hall 77)
