Vote for your September Player of the Month

30 September 2019

Sheffield Wednesday fans can now vote for their swfc.co.uk September Player of the Month.

Following the first international break of the campaign, the Owls returned to winning ways away at Huddersfield in new manager Garry Monk’s maiden game.

Goals from Steven Fletcher and Sam Winnall sealed three points for Wednesday at the John Smith’s Stadium.

Next time out, a late Atdhe Nuhiu diving header recued a point right at the last for the Owls in the clash with Fulham at Hillsborough.

Kadeem Harris motored forward down the left in the last seconds before sending in the cross which took a deflection, before Nuhiu planted his header into the Kop net.

Wednesday then exited the Carabao Cup at the hands of Everton before heading to Boro, where Monk’s side turned on the style at the Riverside.

The Owls scored four times inside 34 minutes in an exhilarating first half display on Teesside.

Barry Bannan’s early corner was inadvertently nodded home by Boro midfielder Adam Clayton.

And Bannan proved instrumental once again a minute later, as the midfielder sent a stunning ball into the box for Dominic Iorfa to head home.

Adam Reach bagged his first goal of the campaign with a crisp low finish past Darren Randolph and Fletcher continued his fine run in front of the goal with a well-guided header from a Reach ball.

Fletcher has moved his goal tally to five from nine Championship games.
