Owls participate in fundraising FIFA competition

14 April 2020

Following on from the successes of the Ultimate Quaran-Team Cup, a second FIFA20 tournament with a twist is now up and running.

The ‘STAY INtertoto Cup’ is a FIFA competition involving 64 professional clubs – with each team represented by one of their professional players.

This is where the tournament differs from it’s predecessor, where fans and professional e-sports players were involved.

Under-23 forward Jordan O’Brien put himself in the hotseat to represent the Owls and made a winning start in the group stages!

With 16 groups, each consisting of four teams, the top two from each will progress to the knockout stage, along with the best third place finish.

Wednesday’s group (Group C) is as follows; SWFC, Sunderland, Fulham and Newport.

O’Brien made a winning start on Easter Sunday and comfortably posted three points in the group with a 5-1 win over Newport.

The Owls youngster is next in action on Wednesday evening (6.00pm) when he faces Fulham’s Cyrus Christie. Supporters can watch ‘live’ via Twitch and the Owls’ official Twitter account @swfc will post details prior to kick-off.

The aim of the Stay Intertoto Cup is to raise money to support NHS staff who are helping to care for people suffering from COVID-19.

The official Stay Intertoto Cup twitter account @LockdownFIFA offers all relevant information, including results, upcoming fixtures and on fundraising.

Over £1,700 has been raised so far and you can visit their fundraising page BY CLICKING HERE.
