We have to dig in and scrap

18 December 2020

Tony Pulis said the Owls need to dig in and scrap ahead of Wednesday’s clash with Coventry at Hillsborough on Saturday.

The Owls face the Sky Blues for the first time in 10 years this weekend, and Pulis is keen to get his first win as boss on the board.

He said: “We have got to go into it and be as positive as we can.

“One of the frustrating things is that we’ve not had a full week of training yet, it’s been play a game, rest, play a game, rest.

“We’ve not had the run of the ball in many of the games, but you have to dig in and scrap through it and that’s what the lads have to do.

“Our possession stats are good but it’s what you do with it that’s important, being positive in certain areas and maybe we’re not taking up the opportunity to cross or shoot. We’ve got to do more of that.”

The Wednesday boss also gave an injury update before this weekend’s game against the Sky Blues.

He added: “Every game in this league is going to be tough and we’re not going to have everyone fit.

“I don’t think we’ll see Dominic Iorfa again this season, which is obviously a big blow for the club.

“Cameron Dawson will be out for six weeks with a knee problem.

“We’ve also lost Joost van Aken, he has a foot injury so he won’t be available this weekend.

“Keiren Westwood has had a couple of days training so we’ll see what happens with him.

“Whatever team we put out they need to give everything.”
