Support Shay's triathlon!

7 February 2020

Last year young Wednesdayite Shay O’Grady walked from Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice to Hillsborough ahead of the Steel City derby to raise funds for the charity.

And on Saturday Shay is back with another charitable challenge in which he will walk from Hillsborough to Oakwell ahead of the South Yorkshire derby with Barnsley.

Once again, the youngster is raising funds for Bluebell Wood who provide extraordinary palliative care for children, including Shay’s cousin Evie.

The nine-year-old’s walk is part of a triathlon he has been taking on, swimming 240 lengths over the last few months, and he will complete the task by cycling back to Hillsborough after the game!

Having set out to raise £1,000 for the charity, Shay has already reached over £7,000, an incredible achievement!

Last season saw Shay raise £4,000, which was then doubled and rounded up to £10,000 by Owls chairman Dejphon Chansiri.

All funds raised will go towards helping Bluebell Wood continue their excellent work, supporting young people and their families.

Fantastic work, as ever, Shay!
