Carry forward the positives

2 July 2020

With the Owls set to make a swift return to action this weekend, Garry Monk is keen for his squad to dust themselves down and carry forward the positives of the past few weeks.

A 3-0 defeat against West Brom on Wednesday was a harsh outcome for Monk’s side, who were the aggressors and on the front foot in the first half.

Wednesday have six games of the season to play inside 20 days and the Owls boss wants to head into that period in confident fashion.

Next up is a trip to Swansea where his side will be looking to make it back to back wins on the road after picking up three points at Bristol City last weekend.

“I told the players straight after the game, that over the course of the three games there has been way more positives that negatives,” Monk said.

“There’s obviously things we need to get better at but that takes time.

“But for now with the quick turnovers, we can't dwell. We have done a lot of really good things in these three games. I just said that to the players at the end.

"We are creating good situations offensively.

"We looked good defensively, not so much in the second half, but we chased the game and we have to get ready to go again.”
