The professional game was officially postponed on Friday 13 March, one day before the Owls were scheduled to host Nottingham Forest at Hillsborough.
The FA, Premier League, EFL, Women’s Super League and FA Women’s Championship collectively agreed to postpone the game due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Since then, for each day that has gone by without football, the official SWFC social media channels have been creatively associating each day with a moment from the club’s history.
And those links can literally be anything! (And we’ve seen some very tenuous ones out there!)
We’ll give you an example, this is what we posted on day eight.
This is what we posted on day nine.
We will continue to be as creative as possible in linking the day with a moment of SWFC history, but we need your help also!
We’ve noticed that Wednesdayites have enjoyed joining in and giving their suggestions – and have come up with some good ones too!
We are going through them all and for those that really catch our eye, we’ll see if we can dig out some imagery or video to feature it on our timelines and walls!
Today (Friday 27 March) represented day number 14 and here’s what we have come up with so far!
Day 1⃣4⃣ and going right back in time!— Sheffield Wednesday (@swfc) March 27, 2020
Our all-time top scorer Andrew Wilson scored 1⃣4⃣ goals in his final full season for #swfc (1914/15)
Scored 216 goals in 546 games for us between 1900 and 1920 and there would have no doubt been countless more but for the First World War pic.twitter.com/LnowkOzU59
Get your thinking caps on!
