Opposition view: Pep Guardiola

4 March 2020

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola says his team quickly got back to work following their Carabao Cup triumph over Aston Villa on Sunday.

The Premier League giants visit Hillsborough this evening after their Wembley success on Sunday.

And Guardiola says his side are now fully focused on defending their FA Cup crown.

“Away in the FA Cup is always difficult because of the fact of how important this competition is in this country,” he said during City’s pre-match press conference on Tuesday.

“We have to be focused.

"At previous, big clubs, I've seen other players as soon as they are in the shower they are already thinking about the next game.

"It's so nice what we have done in the last three seasons, but tomorrow is another final.

"The players trained really well today. They looked so focused.

"I saw the team ready to play tomorrow. I like that."

Returning winger Leroy Sane has been ruled out of the trip to Hillsborough, while City hitman Sergio Aguero has been passed fit to play after picking up a minor knock in the cup final on Sunday.
