Luongo blow for Wednesday

23 October 2020

The Owls will be without in-form midfielder Massimo Luongo for the clash with Luton on Saturday.

After picking up a contact injury in the 1-0 win over Birmingham at St Andrew’s, the Australian has swelling around the knee that will see him miss out this weekend.

The Wednesday boss concedes Luongo is unlikely to be ready in time for our midweek trip to Rotherham also.

“Massimo’s knee is still quite swollen and won’t make the weekend.

“It’s a big shame. Massimo has been one of our most consistent performers so far.

“It happened in the game, it was a contact injury.

“Those sort of injuries tend to be seven to 10 days. He won’t be available for the weekend and highly unlikely for the midweek game.”

In better news, Dominic Iorfa, Tom Lees and Izzy Brown are back in training and in with a chance of featuring this weekend.

Brown, of course, knows this weekend’s opposition well having made 28 loan appearances for Luton last season.

Monk added: “We have no injuries from the last game.

“Tom, Dom and Izzy are back out on the training pitches. I will have a good look at them today.”
